Derrick Rose was born on October 4, 1998 in Chicago, Illinois.

Derrick is the starting point guard for the Chicago Bulls and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2009 and selected to the NBA All-Star game in 2010.

Derrick grew up on the South Side of Chicago and his three older brother Dwayne, Reggie and Allan help Derrick develop his basketball skills at a young age.

Rose played his AAU basketball on the Mean Street Express with Eric Gordon and was coached by his brother Reggie Rose.

Derrick attended Simeon Career Academy where their overall record while Rose played was 120–12.

Simeon won two straight champtionships Rose's Junior and Senior years.  Simeon was even ranked 1st in the nation by Sports Illustrated in his late year at Simeon.

Derrick was named Illinois Mr. Basketball and was also named to the McDonald's All-American team.

Derrick Rose went to the University of Memphis Tigers to play under John Calipari.

Rose averaged 14.9 points per game, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game during the regular season and 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6 assists during the tourney.

He led Memphis to the NCAA Championship against the Kansas Jayhawks but Memphis lost in overtime, 75–68

Rose was selected first overall in the draft by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft.

Derrick averaged 16.8 points per game, 6.3 assists per game, and 3.9 rebounds per game during his rookie season in 2008-09.

In the 2009-10 playing in his first All-Star game Rose had 8 points 4 assists and 3 steals.
